HISTORY OF DOCTORS IN SERVICE
In March 2011, Dr. Andrew Herzuah, a medical doctor, then a house officer started serving people in their homes at the request of relatives who considered he could do such. His love for work sometimes saw him not charging anything for such work. This also sometimes was fueled by his passion to see patients comfortable irrespective of whether he is paid or not. It was during one of such home care services that he landed a strategic property which later became the first home of Doctors in Service Limited. The company initially was to focus on home care services and discussions on those were held with a few people. However, the plan of God was different. We were to move into ambulatory clinics whose mission was to provide a fast, affordable client centered and quality healthcare for the numerous middle and upper class who often are frustrated by the slow, painful process of seeking medical attention in the public system.
It started with staff strength of 8 persons and locum doctors with a lot of hard work, training and retraining of staff on excellent customer care, quality service and so on. The company stuck to three main principles:
- Providing fast but quality services
- Providing a friendly and nice environment for patient care
- Putting the patients’ needs first in all we do
We focused on aggressive awareness creation in the first 6 months by focusing on different strategies. This saw our patient to out rise steadily from an average of 5 patients per day to 30 patients per day by the end of the first year.
There has been steady growth in staff, patient tout, revenue, logistics, equipment’s and skilled human resource.
Currently seeing averagely 40 patients per day after 18 months in operation and being one of the preferred healthcare destinations among the middle and upper class, the company is strategically positioned for continuous growth, better services and expansion.
